The Key To Learning About Social Media

You may be thinking, why all the fuss about social media? What type of benefits will it provide me and my business? How will I ever be able to learn all that there is to know about this new avenue? Thankfully there is now an easy solution – the New Media Drivers License course. This class was recently created to assist students in learning new media and digital marketing.

Since this past January, I’ve been able to explore the many routes to which social media can lead. Whether it is the basics of creating and up keeping a personal profile on Facebook, Twitter or LinkedIn, researching and blogging about the importance of social media policies and strategies, or using these tools to gain a following for your product, this class offers it all.

Currently I’m learning about S.E.O. While many would define it as “search engine optimization”, it can be explained further by putting your site’s best foot forward when it comes to visibility in search engines. I found Google’s Webmaster Central Blog to be helpful because it offers a number of helpful tips on how to make your site seen. When creating your own, keep these tips in mind:

Keep the title tags short, but informative
When writing meta tags, make sure the description is both informative, but interesting
Using words that relate to your site’s content make it much easier for visitors to remember – and hopefully more willing to link to
To make it easier for the viewers to navigate around your site, add navigation pages using mostly text and breadcrumbs
